Question "I have flaky dry skin. I've been told I have seborrhea by my dermatologist. I've been given prescription lotions etc. What causes dry skin, lifeless hair and unhealthy nails? Most of my problems seem to be skin, but I would also like to understand how I could improve upon the condition of my hair and nails as well. Although my skin prescriptions seems to work OK, I'm also concerned about the side effects as you've mentioned in your other articles regarding man-made products. Is there any natural alternatives for my conditions, if so what?
Answer. Did you ever notice, your skin condition flare up vs. flare down? Even without medication, I know you've noticed times of low to worse skin conditions. Whether it be seborrhea, or some kind of dermatitis. You've probably even thought at some point, "maybe I don't need medication any more." But to your dismay, the dermatitis returns with a vengence. What does this tell you? It tells me that you may also be sensitive to toxins in your home and/or consumed products. In other words, the flare ups come and go without consistency in duration and frequency. And if you are paying attention, you may also note but harder to see because of time, nails and hair condition are connected.
Let me give you a good example of this connection. When I was in Air Force basic training I was diagnosed first with heat rash, than hives and finally what broke the straw "shingles." All along it was the heavy detergent used to wash soldiers uniforms. I can't tell you how much medication was pumped down my throat to keep the itching at bay which also created side effects with other treated conditions.
Here's another personal best. Ever get red dry flaky skin on your cheek, nose and forehead? Well I did for a two year spell. Do you know what it was caused by? A toxin I was unaware of... The sulfates in red wine! I didn't even drink with frequency, but never put the two together after each breakout. Or how about niacin supplementation. Ever experience the red hot skin flush? Or this one which is very hard to diagnose, sick building syndrome. Yes the materials in buildings off-gas toxins for a period of time, just like that new car smell. For many of us this is poison to our systems and our bodies react accordingly.
Now imagine all the possibilities of things that create a conditional symptom where you never find the cause, but instead use a prescription to remove the symptom. However, it repeatedly comes back. The same thing is true of poor hair and nail conditions. What is your body lacking, what is it sensitive to and/or what toxin is your body now reacting with? If you are having severe symptoms see a physician immediately to treat the symptom. Thereafter, start looking at your diet, or your environment to determine what might be causing the symptomatic reactions.
Unfortunately, some of us do have chronic conditions that stay around for a lifetime. Regardless, there is something in your environment, or body that has reached an unhealthy balance that can worsen a lifetime condition and a balance you can achieve to improve upon the severity of the flareups.
To determine what might be the cause of your condition try a combination of changes within your food choices, consumer habits and note the environment your in. Make a list of possible things under suspect with the help of medical advisement if necessary. Then through time, you may be able to isolate and remove what's been causing your skin, hair, nail conditions.
Now I'll present some general flakey skin knowledge for further research efforts which I know you'll do your due diligence. As for the hair and nails, if your skin is healthy, your hair and nails "for many" will fall in suit. If the opposite is true, simply use the Internet engines to do a little research to find the symptomatic connections and treatments you can't find otherwise.
I've also provided two videos attached one that talks about healthy intestinal absorption and the other household toxins to assist you in your search for treatment. Regardless of the supplements/products used to beautify hair and nail health, without good intestinal health and absorption, you'll not optimize your results. So view the videos which have much more information than you'll find within this article to help you on your quest.
Moving on with one of the most stubborn skin conditions to treat. Seborreah can present itself as dandruff, thick oily, or dry skin on the scalp, armpits, face, or red patches under the breasts. Even though the skin appears dry, it is also oily at the same time. Most moisturizing creams on the market will only make the dry scales redder and more irritable, usually only smoothing out the scaly disorder. It is worth pointing out, this form of skin inflammation (dermatitis) is often misdiagnosed as Seborreah Dermatitis when in fact the irritation to the skin is caused from toxicity issues in the body. Dandruff is a form of seborreah dermatitis that results from neither too little moisture, nor too much oil. The cause of this type of skin dermatitis is unknown. The positive news on this, dermatologists do have medication for this condition that work extremely well. In this case, the benefits out weight the risks of medication use. However, this does not mean you shouldn't attempt to treat naturally to reduce the use of medications.
And if you'd like to treat this condition more naturally, simply make a list of foods, or medications, supplements you've consumed in the last 24 hours and attempt to make connections with consumption and symptoms that you believe your body is reacting to. Then you can do your own research and/or ask questions when you visit your dermatologist. Removing certain items from your diet, or hygiene use for example is a part of the discovery to reaction exercise.
One of the most effective ways to treat toxicity issues within the body is to boost the immune system, get proper nutrition, drink plenty of water, exercise while using natural medicine cabinet alternatives. As our bodies age, our bodies abilities to protect, detoxify and heal itself becomes less efficient after the age of 25. There are extreme skin conditions including chronic adult acme for which there are natural cures and dermatologist prescriptions. Simply research on the internet about adult acme natural cures.
My contention is, "why manage a condition unnaturally when natural solutions may provide a silver bullet solution for you?" I've found as I age, managing my health conditions and maintaining a balanced body and keeping my metabolism close to my youth metabolism now requires a balanced healthy life program which includes a natural medicine cabinet and organic food choices with high nutrient values. I also supplement my diet with high quality minerals and vitamins.
By managing your good health, you can maintain an efficient metabolism for any age. This provides your body the ability to better remove body toxin(s) from our environment and foods we eat. And of course the main benefits you'll receive: fat reduction, healthy blood pressure, low cholesterol, better strength-endurance, body tone, cardiovascular health, etc., and immune boost. The list goes on.
Remember, with the use of any man-made products there are secondary health risks to your body, mind and spirit. If you can manage and maintain your entire body "mostly" natural and at minimal cost as you age, why would one not do so?
